Edible Painting ideas from Toddletown Day Nursery in Godalming
This is a great introduction to painting for those very little creative ones. This is something you can set up at home, in their highchair or with their highchair pulled up to the table. They will love exploring the colours and the feel of the paint while being safe.
What you will need
2 cups of cornflour
1 cup of cold water
4 ½ cups of boiling water
Food dye in a variety of colours
Steps
1. Mix the cornflour with the cold water and stir together. If you have an older child they will love doing this part!
2. Once mixed, add in the boiling water and stir again.
3. With enough stirring it should melt into a soft gloop consistency.
4. Now split your mixture into as many colours you would like to use.
5. Add a couple of small drops of your food dye colours into the separated mixtures and stir them.
6. Your edible paint is now ready to be used.
Remeber to check the temperature before allowing your little ones to use it.
As always when using food dye creations, I'd recommend using old clothes!! Let your baby explore the texture with their fingers, or if they are able to yet you could help them practice their grip by using different brushes or stamps.
